Two Edwardian 'Rise and Fall' Lights

1900 - 1920
Description

We have two very similar, original circa 1900-1920 brass Rise and Fall ceiling lights, both with their original and heavy, lead shot weights. Customers are welcome to look at them by appointment. They need a fabric , or a long fringe fitted depending on preference. The price shown is for each one - for both the price is £775.

The frames are approximately 48cm across in width, and have a depth of 8cm. The weights are approx 12-14cm deep and 12-13 across.

There are three light bulb fittings in each light and they were rewired approximately 18 mnths ago with a good length of dark flex cable, but they have never been used since being rewired. It is difficult to show them as they would look fitted to a ceiling, but they are both superb examples of this style of early 20thC lighting.

The lead shot weights are complete, making them very heavy and giving stability to the movement of the lights. There are no signs of damage to either, and the mechanism and wheels in both are good. We have not had the brass professionally cleaned as some of our customers prefer us to leave well alone.
