Pair of Arts and Crafts Fire Dogs

1900 - 1920
Description

This pair of unusual, beautifully made fire dogs are pure Arts and Crafts and date from around 1910-1915. In the 27 years of trading, we have never had a pair like them in stock.

Made in copper and brass, the front of the andirons stand at 38cm in height and the feet are 13.5cm across; they are 19cm deep and the back is 18cm in height.

The large copper flower heads have six petal shapes around and a brass ball in the centre. These flowers measure approximately 10cm in diameter. The main frame of the fire dogs are solid brass with decorative copper swirls and shapes.

They are solid and weigh approximately 1.8kgs each. They have been lightly polished but not lacquered.

Postage and packing within the UK mainland only has been included in the price and for remote parts of the UK or abroad, please contact us for a quote for delivery.

Alternatively, they can be viewed in Surrey by appointment as we no longer trade through a retail outlet. Please contact us to arrange a viewing.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
