A 1920s Swiss Half Hunter Pocket Watch

A 1920s Swiss half hunter pocket watch.

The watch has a Swiss stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 50.7mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is gold plated and was made by the Illinous Watch Case Co, Elgin U.S.A. The case has light rubbing to the outer edge of the back form use and a couple of small "dings" to the back but overall it is in nice condition for a 1920s piece.

The front cover has Roman numerals around a small plastic lens. The numerals are filled with dark blue enamel - a small amount of the enamel has fallen out over the years although not over noticeable. The winding crown pushes down to open the front cover. It reveals a white enamel dial with a glass lens which is in good condition. The dial has faint hairline cracks although hardly noticeable. Blued steel hands designed so that the time can be read when the front cover is closed … with conventional hands, it would be impossible to tell which hand was which through the small lens.
