The madder-red central field of this rare salt-bag, contains 6 'birds-heads' symbols - guardians of the gates of Paradise. The bag, woven in soumak technique by Azeri nomads during the last quarter of the 19th century, is complete with plain-weave back in narrow horizontal bands of natural colours.
