Description

ROBERT SMITH, LONDON: a good 18th century mahogany BRACKET CLOCK timepiece, with quarter repeat on two bells.

The case is superb ~ and of good warm colour ~ with cast brass handle to the bell top; fretwork panels to the arch-moulded door; further fretwork panels to the sides and original brass feet.

The 8-day movement retains its original verge escapement, with finely engraved backplate, and with pull quarter repeat on two bells. Mock pendulum; date aperture; blued steel hands and signed to a cartouche in the arch. Perfect working order. c1770 18.5ins high; 10.5ins wide; 6.75ins deep.47 x 26.5 x 17cms)
