Rare 5-Minute Repeating Carriage Clock

Description

A very fine quality and rare late 19th century French FIVE-MINUTE REPEATING CARRIAGE CLOCK in perfect working order.

Housed in a particularly good and substantial gilded case, the 8-day movement retains its original lever platform; perfect enamel dial and blued steel "moon" hands. It is in perfect working order, and guaranteed for at least two years.

**What makes this rare is that whilst it strikes hours and half-hours conventionally on a gong, it is fitted with TWO repeat buttons; the front button, when pressed, repeats the previous hour; whilst the rear button repeats the number of 5-minutes that have passed since the hour. 6ins high (handle down);4ins wide; 3.5ins deep. (15.25 x 10 x 9cms)
