Description

Old storage-bags like this one, woven in intricate soumak technique by Qashqa'i - Darrehshuri nomads, are scarce today. They were given hard use to the point that few have survived the ravages of time. This bag was made during the early 20th century and is complete front and back, with the sides over-bound in braided goat-hair. What is particularly charming are the tiny amuletic knots on the goat-hair sides indicating the weaver held this bag in high regard and wanted to protect its contents.
