Mytton Antiques - Jerrard Nares has dated this piece to the 1800s.
The rim with a double mould edge, surrounding the horizontal, thence sloped sides. The centre following the rectangular rounded corner shape of the rim. The edge painted with blossoming flowers amongst scrolled leaves. The centre decorated with rising hops in flower. The whole painted in gilts and greens against a striking dark red back ground.
Date c 1830.
Height 1 1/2 inches, width 24 inches, depth 18 inches.
