Bedsteads has dated this piece to the 1910s.
We have cleaned and waxed to preserve the patina and colour of the beech frame.The exquisite fabric is in good usable condition and has been carefully cleaned. At some stage in this beds life it appears that the fabric may have got damp resulting in some background pinking from the red silk dye which can be viewed as all part of the natural ageing. We can reupholster in customers own fabric for an additional £450 if required.
The bed will take a 160 cm (5'3") x 200 cm (6'6") mattress internally or a 167 cm (5'6") x 200 cm (6'6") mattress on top of the rails.
We can supply mattresses at these sizes if required or 160cm is one of the European standard size mattresses.
We can include wood slats to form a base or we can supply mini box bases for superior mattress support and to raise get into bed height. 5cm (2") platform top £275 (as used for photograph) or 10cm(4") sprung or platform top for £325.
