Hobson May Collection has dated this piece to the Edwardian era.
The silver accessories are of a high quality and are hallmarked London, 1905.

The case also contains an array of travelling essentials in a matching purple leather and similarly lined in a silk moire, these items include:- a jewellry box, needle case, card case and manicure set (incomplete). There is also a letter opener, glove stretchers and a small white metal spirit heater (to warm curling tongs), housed in a silvered metal box.

The condition of the case is generally very good, there is evidence of a small early repair to the front of the case, but this is not easily visible. There is wear and cracking to the handle, as you would expect with a much used antique case. The leather and contents are stamped in gold lettering with the makers name, this is a wonderful example of a luxurious and high quality travelling case from an era of style and glamour.
