Antique French Limoges Enamel Jewellery Box C.1850

Description

An absolute gem, made in France in around 1860, this charming box or casket is made from a heavy Ormolu and standing on four original feet.

The undamaged five Limoges enamel panels are what this such a special piece, in a fashionable soft French grey colour featuring scenes of children to the front and lid, a pair of Doves to the back and the side panels featuring a musical and theatrical vignette. The top panel is signed by the artist. The interior retains its original padded velvet lining. No key.

Dating to 1860 and in excellent condition measuring 5 1/2" x 4 1/2" x 4" tall.
