Edward Smith Silver Card Case - 1858.

A fabulously decorated Solid Silver Card Case made by the well-known and sought after silversmith, Edward Smith, in 1858. Of shaped oblong form with an all over engine turned diagonal striped pattern which is bordered by superbly engraved scroll work. There is a central blank cartouche and the box has no added engravings, monograms or initials. The lid closes tightly, the hinge is in good condition and there is little or no signs of wear or use despite this lovely piece being almost 150 years old.

This is a real collector's item made by a master craftsman which would complement any collection.
