Antique Galonne Cased Omega Pocket Watch and Chain

An antique galonne cased Omega pocket watch and chain.

The watch has a stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed Omega and the serial number, 3,605,537 which is underneath the dial, dates the watch back to around 1910. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover which is also signed and it has details of medals won at the Paris Grand Prix trade exhibition in 1900.

The watch itself measures 52mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The watch has a galonne case which means it is 800 silver with a rose gold wash around the bezel and also around the edge of the hinged case back. There are Swiss hallmarks inside the case back, together with the early Omega stamp. The case is in lovely condition with just the odd minor mark. The engine turned detail to the case back is still nice and crisp, and there is an elaborately framed cartouche to the back, with a knight’s head incorporated into the design.

The plastic lens is in good condition.

The white enamel dial is signed with the name of the original retailer, Axel Westholm, Hedemora, Imp (Sweden). The ornate hands are a charming feature, and were very popular in Scandinavia at the beginning of the 20th Century.

The watch comes on a double albert with each chain measures approximately 20cm long including the T-bar and the clasp.
