Magnificent Georgian Artist Watercolor Paint Box by Reeves and Inwood C.1800

Description

An outstanding large Artist's watercolour paint box made from Mahogany with Tulipwood cross-banding. The top of the lid is beautifully inlaid with a classic Georgian shell inlay in the centre and complimentary corner inlays.

The box comes complete with a working lock and key and once opens reveals an oustanding fitted interior with all the Reeves paint blocks still wrapped in their paper, marked "Made In England" so early 20th century refills. The inside of the lid retains the original undamaged label signed Reeves and Inwood which dates this box to between 1796 - 1811, fitting perfectly with the era of the box.

A lovely highly collectible example in excellent condition. A substantial size measuring 14" x 8 1/2" x 2 3/4".
