Cased Taxidermy Foxes by Whiting of London. C.1910.

Description

Large Edwardian era cased display of two taxidermy foxes by James E. Whiting of London c.1910. Naturalistic taxidermy presented as a tableau showing the lower fox defending a rabbit it has killed from the attentions of the larger fox above. On a beautifully modelled background decorated with grasses, mosses, flowers and ferns. In a large display case, glazed on three sides. Original paper label for ‘James E. Whiting Naturalist 19 Heath St, Hampstead, London’. Single crack to a lower portion of the glass at the left hand side. Upper fox missing the tip of his tail which has dropped to the base of the case beside the rabbit. Otherwise very good original condition.
