Compact 19th Century Writing Box, Stationary Box

Description

A lovely example of a mid 19th century writing box, made from a variety of show woods to include, Ebony, Rosewood and Satin Wood. The Satinwood fall with Ebony surround of which is inlaid in Abalone and Pewter stringing, this opens to reveal the original velvet lined interior, in wonderful condition, having a variety of compartments for ink etc. along with a storage well beneath the writing slope for papers. Good even colour with original finish, in excellent antique condition throughout. English, Circa 1860.
