A super late Regency mahogany extending dining table attributed to Gillows of Lancaster. This 4ft wide table smoothly extends from 5ft 3in to 10ft 7in allowing it to incorporate any combination of the three original leaves and seat up to 12 people. The rounded rectangular top has a moulded edge and a plain frieze and stands on turned reeded legs with original brass caps and castors. The interlocking bearers which allow the table to extend benefit from the addition of a worm screw winding mechanism by Samuel Hawkins of London. Unusually and a distinct sign of quality this table also comes with two additional frieze mouldings which can be fitted to the open sides to conceal the runners. In very good condition with good quality timbers and original colour.
