Antique Georgian Mahogany Glazed Bureau Bookcase C1780

Description

Stunning george 111 mahogany bureau bookcase dating from around 1780. It has a cornice top with dental moulding above carved mahogany frieze. There are two astragal glazed doors with original escutcheons and working key and with three internal adjustable shelves. The bureau has a deep mahogany cross banded edge to the fall front with original working key and which opens to reveal a small central door with satinwood stringing and reeded panel to either side together with three pigeon holes to each side with long drawer above and two small drawers below all of which are oak lined with original handles. To the base there are four long graduating drawers all of which are oak lined and with original brass handles. It stands on bracket feet and separates into three pieces for ease of transporting.

Measures: 82" high X height to top of bureau 42" X knee height 29" X 20" deep X internal depth (bookcase) 9" X 39" wide
