Heavy Brass Gimbal Lamp

1900 - 1920
Description

Circa 1910-1940 a heavy, solid brass decorative lamp that would have been used with candles and been attached to either a wall or to a table. These were mostly fitted in trains or ships, the movement of the gimbal keeping the candle upright.

There is a ready drilled hole in the bottom for this purpose.

It has been converted to electricity, complying to UK regulations and fitted with an online switch.

The light measures 32cm in height up to the very top of the candle tube, and the back plate is 12cm in diameter, and it weighs approx 1.2kg.
