Rare Edwardian Silver Potpourri Box by William Comyns 1904

A wonderful quality rare and unusual SILVER POTPOURRI BOX made from English sterling silver by the renowned London silversmith, William Comyns.

The base of the box, which unusually stands on four 'three-toed legs', has an embossed or repousse stunning floral, foliate scroll and trellis decoration running around its circumference. The top has a superbly pierced or reticulated design of a wedding scene with a coach and horses over a stunning decorative background of scrolls and pierced trelliswork and the interior of the box has a light gilt coating. The lid fits well and the 5 bar hinge are in very good condition. The box is in excellent condition with virtually no wear visible.

This is a high quality, unusual and rare item made from good gauge silver and would make a superb addition to anyone's collection or a really special gift for someone.
