Description

JOHN WARELD, LONDON Circa 1760.

A Chinoiserie Lacquered London longcase clock. A faux tortoishell background in red and black. Nicely decorated case scenes to the front and sides. An arched hood pediment surmounted by 3 gilded wooden finials. Glass hood side apertures. A long arched trunk door with moulded edging. Brass cased weights. A brass and silvered dial with corner spandrels and blued steel hands. Date and seconds indicators. An 8-day duration mechanism striking the hours on a bell of 5-pillar construction.
