Antique Silver Fusee Pocket Watch and Chain

An antique silver fusee pocket watch, 1885.

The watch has a fusee (chain driven) movement which is working well. The movement is protected by an inner fitted cover.

The watch itself measures 53mm diameter excluding the stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks in both of the case backs for Chester 1885, with a silversmith’s mark for the watch case maker Alfred Yardley of Chester and London. The case is beautifully detailed and it is in super condition… the rose gold detail to the case back is a particularly nice feature. The inside of the case back has the engraved name of a previous owner, W Mooney, Dalry (which is in Ayr in Scotland).

The watch glass is in good condition.

The silver dial has a beautiful appearance with rose gold Roman numerals and a floral design to the centre. The hands are probably later replacements.

The watch comes with an early 20th Century silver single albert with a fob… the stone within the fob has a chip to the edge.
