A Superb George V Silver Table Vesta.

1900 - 1920
Description

A rare and unusual variation on the usual silver vesta. This George V hallmarked table vesta is a rectangular box with a match striker to the front. The lid is hinged, opening to reveal a compartment containing the matches. A most interesting and unusual addition to a vesta collection, still usable today.

Condition :- Very good, with no splits or holes. There are some dimples to the body and lid and a blemish to the side, all commensurate with age and use.

Hallmarks :- Clear and readable. Full set to base and corresponding part set to lid.

Maker :- William Base & Sons.

Date :- Birmingham 1924.

Width :- 6.5 cms.

Depth :- 5.25 cms.

Height :- 3.5 cms. (lid closed).
