Hobson May Collection has dated this piece to the 18th Century.
The oak has a deep rich colour and patination that has been acquired over many years of polishing. There are some historic restorations as would be expected with a much used piece of furniture dating from the George I period. The delightful small proportions and sturdy construction make this 18th Century oak coffer a useful and decorative piece of country furniture, perfect for the end of a bed or sofa, or as a piece of character to add to a hallway.
