English Pocket Watch, Mason & Son, Middlesbrough

1900 - 1920
Description

An English gold plated pocket watch from Mason & Son of Middlesbrough.

The watch has a stem-winding movement, stamped English Made, which is working nicely. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch itself measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is gold plated and was probably made by the England based watch case maker Aaron Dennison. It is in very nice condition and the milled edge and engine turned detail to the case back are still nice and crisp.

The glass is in good condition too.

The white enamel dial is signed ‘Mason & Son, Middlesborough’ (note Middlesborough rather than Middlesbrough). Mason & Son was a watchmaker and jeweller with premises in Corporation Road, Middlesbrough. The company was owned by Edmund Heppell Mason and Charles Allan Mason and ceased trading in 1927. The dial is in good condition with just a small chip to the centre of the subsidiary seconds dial.

We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
