Victorian Scottish Silver Christening Tankard 1889

This rare and excellent good quality solid STERLING SILVER CHRISTENING MUG or TANKARD has a tapering cylindrical body and a good 'C' shaped scroll drop handle. The mug is designed on the larger tankard design and has nice hand engraved foliage decoration to the side around a vacant cartouche to the centre which can be used for initials or a dedication. The mug also has a lovely gilt interior which is still vibrant. Made by George & Michael Crichton it is hallmarked for Edinburgh Scotland and as such is an unusual piece which would make a fantastic christening present, investment or would add to anyone's collection.
