Antique English Oak and Silver Plated Butter Dish C.1890

Description

A lovely example made from solid English Oak with a carved bark design to the surface. The mounts are silver plated, unmarked but undoubtedly by either John Grinsell or Daniel and Arter, both famous for this type of work.

The front has a vacant banner cartouche mount and the interior retains it's original creamware ceramic liner.

Victorian in era, dating to c.1890. The footprint measures 6" in diameter and the rim diameter, 5 1/2"; standing 4 1/4" tall to top of lid finial and 6 1/4" to top of handle while upright.
