Chapter Simpoles Lawyer's Stacking Bookcase

1900 - 1920
Description

Lovely stacking lawyer's bookcase dating from the early 20th Century, made by 'Chapter Simpoles'. It has three tiers which split apart, allowing for more levels to be added or taken away. The front sections are glass which slide up and over to 'open' the bookcase sections. The sections are slightly graduated in size with the smallest at the top and the largest at the bottom. At the back of each section is a 'Chapter Simpoles' plaque.

The bookcase in good condition for its age. It is functional and displays very well. It is nice quality and a good sturdy construction. At the back of the bookcase there have been two small sections cut away to so as the bookcase fits tight to a wall over a skirting. It is worth noting that there is a split on the side of bottom foot of the bookcase which has been repaired and filled but it doesn't detract from the bookcase (see photo).
