The top swivels and opens up to reveal a back gammon and chess table inlaid to the top in a variety of exotic woods. The rectangular frieze drawer fitted in boxwood and with various velvet lined compartments for sewing accoutrements and having a burr walnut veneered sliding work box for storing fabric etc also veneered with a butterfly shaped tulipwood marquetry panel. The whole supported on turned and carved columns with acanthus carved cabriole supports, brass and porcelain castors united by a turned and fluted central stretcher. English circa 1860-1870
