A 1920s Elgin Half Hunter Pocket Watch

A 1920s Elgin half hunter pocket watch.

The watch has a stem-winding grade 290 movement which is working well. The movement is signed Elgin Nat’l Watch Co USA and it has the serial number 23985510 which dates it back to 1920. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 50.5mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The half hunter case is gold plated and is the Empress model made by the American Watch Case Company. Overall it is in good condition with just a couple of small "dings"to the back cover. The small glass lens is in nice condition. The front cover has blue enamel Roman numerals to the centre. There is a small piece of enamel missing on the boarder at 11 o'clock although not over noticeable.

The winding crown pushes in to open the front cover which reveals a larger lens which is in good condition. The white enamel dial is signed Elgin. The dial has a faint hairline crack under the sub second dial although hardly noticeable but otherwise it is in nice condition.

The watch has blued steel hands.
