Antique William IV Leather Top Writing Table Desk

19th century
Description

Antique leather top writing table dating from around the 1830-40 period & in good condition. It's predominately oak, with some ebony parts & burr walnut panels on the corners. The leather writing surface is antiqued burgundy, with gold tooling & an ebony banding outside of that. There is more ebony around the top edge & the drawer fronts. There are two drawers with ebony handles & the back is finished off too. This desk is supported by two uprights on platform bases with bun feet below that have concealed casters. There is also a boldly turned cross stretcher that helps hold it all together. This is a very smart piece & very good quality.
