George Montague Ellwood often designed furniture incorporating pewter and brass into the inlaid panels, this is almost certainly one of his designs and made by The Bath Cabinet Makers. The back panel stamped with two design numbers which is a known Bath Cabinet Makers trade mark. George Montague Ellwood was an artist, designer and interior decorator born in 1875, in 1897 he won the gold medal for his furniture designs and was one of the founding members of the gild of art craftsman. He is known to have designed pieces that were constructed both by J.S Henry and The Bath Cabinet makers.
