Georgian Silver Caddy Spoon - Joseph Willmore 1829

A Superb Quality Georgian Solid Silver Shovel Shape TEA CADDY SPOON with the most beautiful bright cut engraved decoration, crafted by one of the finest Georgian silversmiths Joseph Willmore. This lovely Tea Caddy Spoon was made in 1829 and despite being 187 years old it is in excellent condition with no dents, splits or repairs and the engraved decoration is as crisp now as the day it was crafted.

The bowl of the caddy spoon is a shovel shape with the edges raised so the tea doesn't fall when being scooped up and the bright cut engraved decoration is very unusual. It has wonderfully detailed branches running around the bowl with stunning leaves adorning the stems and is then finished with a delicate double dotted design which in turn frames the bowl beautifully. The stem handle is crafted in the fiddle pattern which was typical of the Georgian period and again has lovely bright cut engraving running up the stem and finished at the top with a matching double border of dotted engraving. The quality of the craftsmanship is as you would expect superb being crafted by Joseph Willmore.

This wonderful piece would have once belonged to a wealthy Georgian Family and used daily in a time when tea drinking was an Art and very expensive.

This will add something very special to any collection.
