Quiet Street Antiques of Bath has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
The eight-day fusee movement has a fine engraved and silvered 12-inch dial, signed by the maker, as is the backplate of the movement itself. Good original blued steel hands. A beautiful clock in perfect working order. 24ins high overall (61cms).
Benjamin Lewis VULLIAMY (1780-1854) succeeded his father as head of this famous firm of Clockmakers. They were appointed "Clockmakers to the Crown" in 1742 ~ an office they held for 112 years.
