Antique Dessert Suite.

19th century
Description

Wonderful cased dessert suite containing silver and Mother of Pearl handled fruit knives and forks for twelve people, four silver engraved/decorated bowl fruit spoons (all decorated to match,) and two pairs of high quality silverplated nut crackers, all in a superb mahogany fitted cabinet with blue silk and velvet lining. This suite has been assembled with care and thought and the cabinet then made separately to contain these pieces; the cabinet even comes complete with two locking keys. Each piece is English hallmarked silver with the exception of the nutcrackers; these are traditionally made of silverplate as solid silver is too soft for the purpose of cracking nuts efficiently. Quite unique and of the highest quality.

Fruit knives and forks, Sheffield. 1882. Martin & Hall.

Length of each knife 20cm

Length of each fork 16.5cm

One pair fruit spoons, Newcastle. 1822. William Lister.

Length of each spoon 22cm

One pair fruit spoons, London. 1803. Eley & Fearn.

Length of each spoon 22cm

Two pairs of nut crackers, Sheffield. 1878. Atkin Bros.

Length 15cm

Cabinet Height 29.5cm x Width 34.5cm x Depth 13.5cm made in 1880.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
