Andrew Cox Antiques has dated this piece to the Edwardian era.
To the front there is a cartouche featuring a fine shell armorial - a theme repeated on the thumb grip. It has an unusual fitted cranberry glass liner with star cut base and associated silver spoon from the same period. A wonderful collector's item, both usable and decorative.
