Victorian Bamboo Glass Fronted Cabinet

19th century
Description

Beautiful bamboo framed cabinet with lacquered chinoiserie panels. The cabinet has two frosted glass doors, behind which are 3 interior shelves. The top of the main cabinet is a lacquered panel of traditional red and black design. There is a supported shelved structure above this with a further panel and a small mirror.

It is a very elegant piece with splayed legs and a beautiful patina. It is in good original condition with just a few small points to note - there is a metal end cap missing from one of the bamboo pieces, there are some small cracks in the lacquer panel and some of the bamboo supports for the shelf are missing on one side (see photo) but this doesn't affect the stability of the shelf or the cabinet.
