Description

A 19th Century Brass Door Porter or Door Stop.

The handle formed as two opposing scrolls, above a ring socle. The shank finished to the bottom with a matching ring socle, above a bell shaped stepped base, finished to the bottom with a rounded plinth. The rear loaded and impressed 'W T & S' with sun motif, for William Tonks and Son. William Tonks were 19th century brass manufacturers based in Moseley, Bimingham, England.

Date c 1860.
