Regency Glazed Display Cabinet, C.1820

19th century
Description

This is an antique, Regency display cabinet in mahogany c.1820.

Rare, bespoke and of fine quality, this cabinet is raised on the most fabulous cabriole legs to the front; The heavily carved knees display scroll and foliate detail and sweep down to hairy paw lion's feet. The feet are repeated in relief detail on the shaped rear legs that are set in allowing the cabinet to rest against the wall beyond any skirting.

Framed by upper and lower moulding, the cross-banded, serpentine apron displays good grain detail and is balanced by the cross-banding in the lower pediment which supports the generous crown moulding.

The canted, glazed cabinet has a large central door dressed with a ceramic pull, the upper corners feature carved scrolled, foliate swags.

Inside the single shelf divides the interior space in two with a serpentine front edge. The painted rear panel reflecting light in this bright and airy display cabinet.

Consistent colour with good grain detail and patina, this cabinet has solid joints and construction. Delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
