Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Powder compacts gained widespread popularity in the 1920s and 1930s as cosmetics became socially acceptable to apply in public. Luxury cosmetic houses and silversmiths collaborated to produce decorated metal cases, frequently employing guilloche enamelling and hand-painted miniature motifs to create portable vanity items.

High-grade compacts were constructed using solid silver, brass, or silver-gilt (vermeil). The decorative lids utilized guilloche enamela technique where translucent enamel is applied over precise, machine-engraved patternsoften paired with hand-painted vitreous enamel miniatures.

Authentic pieces generally feature maker marks or hallmarks stamped on the inner rim, bezel, or base. True guilloche enamel exhibits depth and precise geometric engraving under the surface glaze, whereas modern reproductions often use epoxy or plastic coatings.

Compact cases make excellent decorative accents when displayed open or closed on a bedroom dressing table, curated vanity tray, or inside a glass display cabinet. They can also be integrated into gallery box frames to display as small-scale wall art.

Dust gently using a soft, lint-free microfiber cloth. Avoid submerging enamel in water or using abrasive liquid polishes, as moisture can seep beneath the bezel and damage the underlying metal or mirror. Store away from direct sunlight and extreme humidity.
