A Gents Silver Ww1 Era Wristwatch, 1918

A gents silver WW1 era wristwatch.

The watch has a hand-winding movement which is working nicely and keeping good time to within around two to three minutes over 24 hours. It is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 33.5mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the articulated lugs which are a particularly charming feature of the watch. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside both of the case backs for London (import mark), 1918 with a sponsor’s mark for Sylvain Dreyfuss.

Fabriques de Montres Rotary was established at La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland by Moise Dreyfuss in 1895. By the 1920s family members Georges and Sylvain Dreyfuss began importing Rotary watches to Britain, which was to become the company's most successful market. Rotary is still owned by the Dreyfuss family today.

Overall the case is in a decent condition for its age, just the odd minor mark and some uneveness / small indentations to the back.

The watch glass has minor marking but is very acceptable.

The white enamel dial has some hairline cracks in the bottom left hand quadrant but not too detrimental to the naked eye.

A new black leather strap has been fitted.
