A Magnificent Silver Mounted Regency Master Salt or Condiment Tub.

A magnificent George III silver mounted master salt or condiment tub of Regency design. This superb example is goblet shaped on a stepped pedestal foot. The body is slice cut with hobnail decoration above. To the top rim and the foot is a band of silver. This item would have graced the finest Georgian table and is still usable today, some ideas being mayonnaise, cranberry, redcurrant, mint sauce or perhaps parmesan.

Condition :- Excellent, with no chips or cracks. There are a couple of minor fleabites and bumps commensurate with age and use. The foot rim has a small area where a tiny piece of silver is missing (shown in photo), this does not appear to be damage, rather something on purpose and mentioned only for completeness.

Date :- London 1809. Partial loss to maker's mark.
