1900 - 1920
Description

A Rare Shapland & Petter Arts and Crafts Period Oak settle, this extremely rare high backed oak settle by the renowned cabinet makers Shapland and Petter. The panelled back having a typical stylised arts and crafts motif with chequer Baille Scott influenced banding. The shaped winged ends having an arm rest above a panelled seat which lifts to provide storage. The design of this settle clearly having many Baille Scott influences but is attributed to W. Cowie as illustrated on page 104 of the excellent "Shapland and Petter Ltd of Barnstaple" by Daryl Bennett circa 1900-1910

Dimensions: 44" wide x 45.5" high x 17" deep (seat height 18")

Condition: This Settle is in excellent original condition. One old repair, see images.
