A Rosewood Early Victorian Period Secretaire Wellington Chest

Description

A Rosewood Early Victorian Period secretaire wellington chest. Having a rectangular stepped rosewood top above an arrangement of seven graduating mahogany lined drawers each retaining their original turned rosewood drawer pulls. The fourth drawer down opens to reveal a fine quality secretaire writing interior with a baize writing surface, pigeon holes and drawers. The drawers flanked by raised pilasters and having finely carved corbels, the right hand pilaster hinged and acting as the locking mechanism. The whole supported on a rosewood veneered plinth with rosewood veneered sides. English circa 1850

Dimensions: 27" wide x 61" high x 19" deep

Condition: This wellington chest is in excellent original condition, a wonderful colour and patination. There is one old repair to the right pilaster (see pictures). Replacement baize writing surface.
