A Handsome Victorian Honeycombe Moulded Rinser.

19th century
Description

A handsome honeycombe moulded glass rinser from the Victorian period. Rinsers or coolers were used for chilling or rinsing wine glasses at the table, between courses. One per person would adorn the table, facilitating the repeated use of the same glass for different wines.

Later it became more common to have a different glass for each wine. Although it's original use is no longer relevant, the rinser can be a lovely collector's item and has practical uses as a bowl. This beautiful example has tallsides and apolished base.
