A Silver 1926 Gents Wrist Watch

1900 - 1920
Description

A silver 1926 gents wrist watch.

The watch has a hand-winding movement which is working nicely.

The watch measures 32.5mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the fixed wire lugs. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the hinged case back for London (import mark), 1926 with a sponsor’s mark (or importer’s mark), for George Stockwell. From 1 June 1907, Stockwells acted as assay agents, facilitating the import into Britain of foreign gold and silver items, which had to be assayed and hallmarked in a UK assay office before being released for retail.

The front of the watch has a couple of very minor ‘dings’ but overall is in very nice condition for such an early piece. The case back has some unevenness.

The watch glass has some marking but not too bad at all.

The white enamel dial has a small chip above the centre but not too obvious to the naked eye.

A later black leather strap has been fitted.

We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
