Arts & Craft Silver Cream Jug by A.e. Jones, Birmingham 1924

Description

This very distinctive Arts & Craft, spot hammered, silver cream jug was made by the celebrated Arts & Craft silversmith A.E.Jones and is dated Birmingham 1925. The tapered , spot hammered body with unusual frieze at the base and rim. It has a very good gauge and feels satisfyingly heavy when picked up.

Hallmarks:

A.E.J. for A E Jones.

Birmingham Assay Mark.

Lion Passant.

Date letter "z" for 1924.

Retailer's marks "Z Barraclough & Sons, Leeds" impressed at the base.

Condition:

Excellent.

No dings. No dents. No inscriptions.

Clear hallmarks.

Dimensions and Weight:

Height: 7 cm / 3 inches.

Length handle to spout:: 13cm / 5.2 inches.
