An Antique Waltham Sterling Pocket Watch and Chain

An antique Waltham Sterling pocket watch and chain.

The watch has a stem-winding movement which is working nicely and keeping good time to within around five minutes over 24 hours. The movement is signed Sterling, American Waltham, USA and it has the serial number 7,402,383 which dates it back to circa 1895.

The watch measures 53mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop so slightly larger than the standard 50mm pocket watches. The inside of the screw-on case back is stamped Fahys Ore Silver (nickel). Fahys were based in New York and successfully produced watch cases until The Great Depression. The bezel is also a screw fitting. The case is in lovely condition

The plastic lens is in good condition.

The signed dial has a very faint short hairline crack between 10 and 11 o'clock although it is difficult to see with the naked eye, and a little discolouration just above the centre, but overall it is in good condition and has blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.

The watch comes on a nickel single albert with swivel fob (there is a crack along the centre of the cornelian stone).
