The Vintage Wrist Watch Company has dated this piece to the 1880s.
A winding key is included. The movement is protected by an inner fitted cover.
The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside both case backs for London 1881 with a maker’s mark for the London based watch case maker Philip Woodman & Sons. The case is in good condition with just the odd mark, and much of the engine turned detail has worn off the case back, just from repeated handling over the years. There is some play in the bezel hinge.
The watch glass is in good order.
The white enamel dial has a few faint hairline cracks on and around the subsidiary seconds dial.
