Late 19th century French bronze sculpture of a female with a playful kitten, signed in the bronze Hipp Moreau. She is set on a rouge marble base with additional gilded display base. This bronze is in very good condition, with fine detail and with a lovely rich patination.

HIPPOLYTE FRANCOIS MOREAU (1832 - 1927)

A French sculptor born in Dijon. Along with his brothers Auguste and Mathurin went to complete his studies in Paris under the tutorship of Francois Jouffroy. He specialized in female figures. Many of his works are in the museum of Fine Arts in Dijon. He was considered a highly talented sculptor of his time.
